Email paragraph spacing won't stick with default

Sarah M

I'm using Outlook 2007 with Word 2007 as my email editor. In the Normal
template of Word I've set as default the before and after spacing to zero,
and to single line breaks. However, maddeningly and repeatedly, when replying
to some (but not all) emails, the spacing magically gets changed to 12 point
after (0 before) and the spacing to 'multiple, 1.5'. However many times I
alter this manually and ask for this to be set as 'default' on the Normal
template, the rogue settings persist. I gather from other users that I am far
from being the only person experiencing this issue and assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

replies often pick up the settings used by the original. It depends on the
message and the senders client so it won't happen every time.

Yeah, you just have to live with it... you should be able to select the text
area and change the formatting but it wont be automatic. I'm lazy... I live
with it. Email is an imperfect medium and as long as its readable, I'm
happy.

Thanks, Diane. So I take it you're saying that is just something I have to
live with when replying to certain emails? The strange thing (to me) is
that
they always have the same format of +10 after and multiple spacing -- but
maybe that's explained by different people writing to me using the same
mailing programme.

Thanks, Diane. I shall take your excellent advice and do my best to temper my
perfectionist instincts with respect to email correspondence!
