email outlook contacts in file attachment

I prepared an entire address book in Outlook (Office 2003 version)with
numerous contacts and am trying to email it to a friend. There are hundreds
of entries. How do I go about saving outlook as a file so I can send it as an
email attachment? I clicked on file “save as†and named it, but all I get is
a Word file with nothing in it. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Ron

What do you mean you prepared an "address book?" Outlook does not use an
address book.
It would seem the relevant question here is in what format does the
recipient need this data? If the recipient is also using Outlook, then
just copy the Contact data into an Outlook Data file in the appropriate
format for the version the recipient is using.

Thanks for your prompt reply Russ........

By prepared an "address book", I meant made entries of names addresses and
phone numbers in the contact portion of Outlook. The recipient has Outlook
2003 as well as Palm on his system and wishes to receive the data in either
format. How would I go about copying the contact data into an outlook data
file in the version the recipient is using. That is precisely the difficulty
I am having. Thanks, Ron

That makes it easy, then, since the Outlook data files will be perfectly
compatible.
Just use File > New > Outlook Data File... to create the file (it will
be a file with a PST extension). Be sure to give it a name and location
you will remember.
Copy these Contacts into that file.
Close Outlook.
Send the file.
The recipient then just uses File > Open > Outlook Data File... to open
it and access these Contacts. They can copy them into their own Contacts
Folder if they want.
