.email no associated program

Trying to open an attachment with a .email extension. The error message is ,
this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. I tried
to enter this in the extension ".email" as a email attachment but could not
in the associate a file type. The current email extension is .eml and I don't
want to change that. How do I add this .email extension to be associated with
my emails? I have vista and Outlook .
Thanks

If you're asking about Outlook, you're more likely to get a useful answer if
you ask in a newsgroup meant for Outlook, such as:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Mention which version of Outlook you're using, and that you're using it
under
Vista, in case that affects your answer.

An .EMAIL file is an alternate file extension for an .EML file. One option
is to save the attachment, then rename with an .EML file name. Another is
to create a file association for .EMAIL files. Save the .EMAIL attachment
to your desktop, Shift-right click it and choose 'open with'. Choose
WinMail and check the box for always use this program. This adds the .EMAIL
file type and associates it with Windows
Mail. Note that you can't associate .EMAIL files with Outlook because it
cannot use .EML files and an .EMAIL file has exactly the same structure,
just a slightly different name. Throughout it's history, Outlook has always
used Outlook Express (now Windows Mail) to open .EML files
