email messages downloading twice in Outlook

I just switched from Outlook Express to Outlook. My email messages are
downloading twice. I do not know how to stop this. Appreciate your
assistance with this quirky problem.

When I had this problem (worse 14 copies showed up in three folders), I
followed someones suggestion and deleted all rules. Sure I had to start over
with the rules, but it solved the problem
