What do you mean by the "old way"?

I assume you mean that the Outlook link is not found on your tool bar at the
bottom of the screen.This is no different than windows XP. The quick launch
must be manualy set up by right clicking on the tool bar, select properties
and check the "Quick launch" box.

Once quick launch is on the tool bar, you can manually add Outlook to it by
dragging its shortcut from the Programs menu.
