Is there a way to forward a received email to a group of contacts identified
by category?
At the moment, I am sending a new message to contacts in a category, and
copying the content from the incoming email into this message - but it would
be more efficient if I could simply forward the message!

No. One of the drawbacks of Categories is that you can't select them as
recipients from within a message window. You can only select them from
within the Contacts folder _before_ the message window is open.
To group recipients in a way that you can select from a message window would
require either Distribution Lists, or separate Contacts subfolders (which
appear separately in the address book view where you can Select All).

....which is ironic since Outlook is clearly pushing us to use Categories
instead of DL's, only in this case you can't.

Yep. :-)

You could make a distribution list from that group of contacts and forward
to the distribution list.
