Do you have a virusscanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable the

Tips of the month:
-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

i have tried turning off both the firewall and anti virus software and it
makes no difference

sorted the problem, it was being caused by avg7, just selected "ignore plug
in status" in avg 7 antivirus and it now works a treat
