Email deletion bug

R

Riccardo

Hi all,

I am a victim of the email deletion bug involving the interaction of Windows
XP with McAfee VirusScan 4.5.1 and Outlook Express 6; it means that all my
messages stored in over three years are lost.
I know of a patch released by McAfee the prevent the problem to occur...but
no one have told me how to restore my messages so far.
Please advice on an effective way to have my precious email back.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the system restore feature in XP?

You could look at http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx

Ensure you have backups (preferably to a different drive) before
attempting to repair.

they may already be gone. If the virus deleted the mail store database
files then you can recover them. But if the virus simply deleted your email
from within the database, then you're probably looking at saying goodbye to
your precious email.

BTW: if they are so precious, you DO have backups right?

Good Luck
