EMAIL DEFAULT QUESTION

when checking my email this morning, it said my usual email default (which is
incredimail) wasn't my usual one, did i want to switch back? so of course i
said yes.
just need a couple of scenarios as to how this could have been switched.
p.s. no one else uses my computer (password protected), but my daughter and
husband have a computer in the next room and they are hooked up to same
modem? could they get access to my computer somehow? help please
