Email content only appears when you reply

Manny

We received an email from outside the company and all we saw was the person's
email signature. When we tried to reply, all of a sudden that is when the
actual content of the email appears. We tried it on two different computers
both running XP Pro and Outlook 2003 with all the latest patches and SPs. The
Outlook "Formatting" is different on the two different computerse but it made
no difference. Thoughts?

Thanks,
Manny

It sounds like the message was munged. It could have happened on either the
senders side or you side.

Are you scanning mail with an antivirus program? That can cause issues like
this.

Yes we have several appliances and applications that check for email viruses
and spams. I take it that this is random since it is not happening to all
emails. Reasons why it would do this? Thanks, manny

It sounds sorta like a problem in the past with certain mail servers and
attachments- outlook couldn't render the attachment until it rewrote the
message for a forward - the rewrite corrected the mailformed message and the
attachment was suddenly visible.

What other possibilities could it be? I am sure I am not the only one who has
anti-virus software installed on their desktop. Thanks, ~m

If not a AV issue then what is the fix in outlook ? In my case it is some
outlook 2007 users who receive emails from a external user with attachments,
but the attachments are not visible unless the email is forwarded.
