I have windows vista and am just now using the windows mail. It keeps giving
me the connection lost error and saying email scanning encountered a problem
thies email message cannont be sent to check my internet connection. I am
connected to the internet so that's not it. I read through the forum and
went to my mcafee mail settings, and it gives me two options, first is turn
on and that means email messages and attatchments are scanned, the second is
off and that says email protections automatically scans and attemts to remove
potential threats in inbound and outbound email messages and attatchments. I
have tried both of these and neither work. Please help I cannot send or
recieve mail.

Close and disable your MacAfee incoming and outgoing email scanner. You will still be protected and it is only a layer on top of the protection. Also my opinion is to get rid of MacAfee altogether. It does more harm than good. There is a lot of free AV suites out there that will do the job the same if not better and is much less intrusive to a system.

Thank you, I havent done it yet but is there a good free or free trial of AV
that u would recommend?

The free versions of AVG and Avast are both good.
Just Google for those names.
