Email Clients

I've been a LONG time user of Pegasus Mail, and really love the program, but it
has a very annoying problem that I no longer can deal with in a modern email
client. Its lack of the ability to process mail when away from the PC with out
outside automation programs or human intervention.

I am looking for suggestions on email clients that are similar to Pegasus that
specifically will when it downloads mail from POP3 accounts it doesn't just sit
there and pile it up in a new mail folder, but PROCESSES the mail, filters to
folders, forwards mail to other addresses etc..

ONE RULE: The program CAN NOT SUPPORT HTML mail. HTML is NOT part of the email
standard, and is a security hole. NO THANKS!

Good filtering like Pegasus is a MUST.

POP3 & SMTP support, multiple accounts.

Thunderbird, Sea Monkey are also OUT. I don't care for them. So is
OutrashExpress.

Did you try Geminisoft Pimmy ?

Did you try Geminisoft Pimmy ?

Thanks, but its filtering actions & ability is severely lacking from Pegasus's
and does not meet my needs.

I think you should persevere with Pegasus.

I would if Pegasus wouldn't just collect email and then sit on it with out doing
anything.

Using the outside automation program is fine when your away, but:

1) Its an annoyance to have to turn it back off/on so as not to interfere with
work/use when at the PC.

2) I shouldn't have to do this to make up for this approach of the program. Why
it downloads mail and then waits for human intervention to process it I don't
know. If I have it set to poll/DL mail, then I obviously want it to be processed
and the filters to be handled. That's why I have sounds that get played for
important messages, and forwards for hot messages when away from the PC. The
whole point is the program should be making it easier not harder.

Its time to move on after 13 years.

I love Calypso as well. Use it with Spam Pal, no complaints whatsoever.

i share your suffering. ive been looking for the same myself. and while
there are some alternatives there arent any good ones. ive landed on
thunderbird myself, but it does html. if you find something let me know

Perhaps you need to look at *nix CLI mail alternatives.

Have you considered PCpine? It has been around in Unix for ages. In its
present form, for the PC, it probably has the largest number of options
and settings of any email client. It is a console appication, still, that
also makes use of windows features.

It certainly has automatic filters for incoming and even outgoing mail.
and does all kinds of things automatically. You may need a tweak or
to for automatic, versus manual, forwarding: Pine has a setting that
will automatically execute a series of Pine commands at startup. One
method of auto forwarding is to list the forwarding and filter commands
to execute on startup. It also processes Imap as well as POP3 files, and
is small enough to fit on a floppy that you can take with you when you
travel.

If you have an ISP that supports IMAP mail you can store pine's
addressbook and preferences on your ISPs server and use them
whereever you are. Indeed, with certain Imap servers (e.g., Communigate
Pro.) you can filter, forward, poll and do lots of initial processing
when your mail arrives at your ISP's mail server, before it comes
to your PC.
