email attachments removed during transmission

I use outlook as my email client. When sending attachments, not all
addressees receive them. The body of the email is received, but attachments
are absent.
Why is this?
 
If you are using RTF as the message format change it to HTML or Plain Text
and try again. Otherwise post your Outlook configuration details.

It is also possible that the attachments are stripped by the receiving
mail server(s). What file types are you attaching / losing?
