Email arrive as IE attachments

I receive email from one sender that arrives in 2 attachments = IE ATT.00002
and ATT00001.txt. To read the messages I have to click on the attachments.
Is there a setting that I inadvertently changed so that I have to click on
the icons to see the message? What can I do to make them open normally?

Are you scanning email with antivirus software? If so, disable it.
Have you rebooted the computer since the problem started? If not, do so.
