One of our business units wants to send email to employees inside the
company. In the "From" address, they only want the Friendly name to
appear....and not the fully qualified email address. These email messages
will originate from a third party outside the company. Is there a way to
structure the message to accomplish this? (The email recipients are using
Outlook 2003/Exchange 2003)

Not sure what you mean by "messages will originate from a third party
outside the company," but note that in Exchange, the display name is the
display name is the display name. There's no "outside/inside" difference.
