Elusive Pages.

Hi. My OS is Windows XP Home. This is an odd query but I hope
someone can help me with it. I stumbled on some very interesting Web pages
recently whilst in a tearing hurry to complete an urgent Google search and I
did a quick "Add to Favourites" so I could go back later. However, there
was no entry in the list when I looked for it and I've spent a long time
trying to find the pages again.. !! My recollections are rather lacking in
detail but the pages were basicly in the usual Web lists of sites (1-10,
Next, etc) format and the contents were a complete record of my visits to a
frequently used site over the last few months. I think an entry in the
URL box at the top included the words Documents and Settings and my name and
initial but I'm very vague about that. There was a check box at every
item and a Remove button in the top right-hand corner of each page.
Any suggestions would be very welcome because I would dearly like to have a
better look at those elusive pages. Regards, Alpha.

Why don't you just look in your browser's History? Depending on the
browser, you will have an option to show a sidebar or the like with
surfing history by date and as long as you haven't cleared the History
between then and now you'll be able to find the sites. If you don't know
how to view the History, look in your browser's Help files for "History".

Thanks for your response Malke. Unfortunately,on the same evening,
believing that I had a relevant item in Favourites, I decided my browser
history was too voluminous and cleared it. !!! I guess my only hope is
for someone to recognise what I glimpsed from my description. Any
suggestions would be welcomed. Regards, Alpha.

Try visiting the "un-named" site again.

Sorry Malke, but I don't understand what you say in the circumstances.
The whole point is that I can't find the relevant site again and hope
someone will recognise it and provide the information I need. Regards,
Alpha .

Unfortunately your discription is pretty vague, and we wouldn't have the
foggiest idea of what you had been frequently visiting. At best it sound
like some kind of page that displayed your history contents. You could
search for "history tracking" and "history cleaner".

Hi Malke. I'm pleased to be able to let you know that I've cracked it. !! Protracted head scratching and complex back tracking have finally been rewarded. !! The "elusive pages" can be found via Google Desktop ,as follows. Open Internet Explorer>Desktop (options above search box)>Type-in URL or Subject ref: of site you have previously visited>Click on Search Desktop. This will produce a Web History Index which you can edit by clicking on Remove from Index, then using check boxes and Remove button. I've no idea how familiar this is to others but it's a revelation to me and I would be very interested in any comments, please. Regards,Alpha. PS. Who is BOB I, whose name
keeps being mentioned in this thread. ? !!
