EFS on whole volume or mount point possible?

Hi there,

I was figuring....is there a way to encrypt a whole volume?
I've tried to use

Cipher /e /s:d:\

it did not work, only for folders that already existed in the root. Newly
created folders weren't encrypted.

Next question is...if there is an option to do it...can it be done on a
mount point too?

Wh jave mounted a volume to C:\NoBackup Same problem, only existing folders
in the NoBackup are encrypted, newly created folders are not encrypted until
the cipher /e /s:c:\NoBackup command has run

Hope someone can help...

Mike

Unlike compression, EFS is not currently implemented that way. I don't know
why that design decision was originally made, but I strongly suspect that it
was an intentional attempt at keeping people from encrypting system files
(pagefile, hiberfil, etc.) that could cause a machine to become unbootable.
