EFS file recovery from backup after clean install

Can anybody explain how to decrypt EFS encrypted files (WinXP Pro). After a
clean install, I recovered my backup but can't access these enymore. I did
the following:

-encrypt directory
-exported certificate to CD with password
-backupped "documents and settings"folder with everything below. So this
includes the "Crypto", "SystemCertificates" and "Protect" folders of all
users and administrator
-Clean install of my PC (with quick formatting)
-recovered backup files to original location
-imported certificate (.pfx file)

As far as I know I have all data I need, how can I access these files?
