Effect of missing Fonts

Bob

I just got a new computer with xp pro. I ordered the Office Basic, which
includes Word, Excell and Outlook only. When I went to my webb site I found
that the Brush Scrip and Bradley fonts show up as Arial words and letters. I
then discovered that my version of word (2003) doesn't have Brush Script and
Bradley fonts in the drop down menu. I checked the Windows Font folder and
they are not in there as well. Is this the reason I can only see Arial on
the web site. If so how do I get the added fonts?

Thanks
Bob

Search the 'net for those fonts and buy/download them then install.

OR perhaps you still have the old computer with those fonts installed?

Copy them over and install.

Thanks to all..

I have some 452 fonts on my xp at work that I copied onto a disk. I can copy
them to the new computer, however I am not sure how to do an install? Once
this is done I assume it will cure my webb viewing problem?

Sincerely,

Bob

The easiest way to install all of the fonts on the "disk" is to put the disk
in the drive.

For this to work properly you need to have "Show hidden files and folders"
turned on (a check mark present) AND "Hide protected operating system files"
turned OFF (no check mark) in Windows Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View
tab.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the source disk drive letter.

Click on any of the font names and then press and hold the Ctrl key and then
tap the A key (CTRL+A). This will highlight all of the font files. It may
take a minute or so but they will highlight.

After all the files are highlighted press Ctrl+C which will copy all the
files to the clipboard. Navigate to the Windows\Fonts folder on your
system drive. Press Ctrl+V which will start the "paste" and install of the
fonts into the folder and the operating system. Any font that is already
there will NOT be overwritten and a message box about having to uninstall a
font to install the font will appear. Simply click on OK to continue to the
next font.

While this is a little 'round about' it will get the job done and you won't
miss any font that may be missed if you do a Font Install from the applet in
Control Panel..
