Editing the source of a message

Is there a way to edit the source of an HTML message using windows mail?

If yes, how?

Yes.
In a message compose window...
View - Source Edit

click on [Source] at the bottom

When I click "View" while composing a new e-mail message in windows mail the
only three options that I get are:
- Cc and Bc
- Status bar
- Customize toolbar
there is no "Edit source" option.
What could be the reason?

No. Dave meant the buttons at the BOTTOM of the compose window, not at the
top.

The option only is available when editing a message in the RichText
(HTML) format.
