Editing suite recommendations?

A friend of mine got 'Pinnacle Studio 9' recently to go with his new Samsung
Digicam. However, he discovered that you can't capture from USB as the
program requires you to capture from Firewire. Problem is that the camera is
USB2 only, as are quite a few these days. Pinnacle weren't remotely bothered
when they were contacted and their latest version 10 has remained without
USB2 support.

Can anyone suggest an easy to use editing suite (very important this
requirement) that allows capture from USB2?

Thanks Steve

What model of Samsung Digicam please. Digital video should ALWAYS be
captured with firewire... USB2 should ONLY be used for capture of still
images (photo shots)

It's a Samsung M105S (VP M105S ?). Unfortunately it doesn't have Firewire
connectivity. Thanks for replying.

OK, having just looked through the SamsungUSA website, I see this is a
digital camcorder that doesn't use MiniDV tape but stores in built in memory
and memory sticks.

You should therefore NOT use a capture program to transfer, but on
connecting the camcorder to the PC, right click on My Computer, select
Manage... on the next screen select Disk Management, you should see the
camcorder appear as a new drive.... assign it a drive letter.

Then use Windows Explorer to copy the saved file just as if it were a
standard document or image file and exactly as if it were on another drive.

Then use your editing software and import the file. It stores in MPEG4
format.
