l am trying to delete a file in the registry of my win xp pro. the files are
located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ....... ETC. every time i delete the file and
restart the pc, the files have not been deleted. how do i get rid of these
files permanently as these are trojan.agent viruses.

thanks,

sanjay

You'd have to do a little research on the internet. Find out the name of
the trojan, and what the removal steps are. Deleting it from the registry
is not removing the trojan.

hi,

i used NoAdware software downloaded from the internet, which listed the
locations of where the Trojan was located, ie in the registry and a file in
system32.

so, i am trying to delete these files. i would like to do this myself rather
than use third party software to remove the trojan.

I know all the locations of the trojan (hopefully), any more ideas on
removal of these files from the registry?

regards

sanjay

what's the name of the trojan? NoAdware is a third party software, and a
bit of my own research showed that it's not really all it's cracked up to
be. It's designed for adware removal, not trojans..Sometimes those programs
will give a false positive, or tell you they found something that needs yet
another software program to remove the infection. It can tell you the a
legit file is adware, removing it would cause problems with your system. The
hook is the free scan.
Also, not that this matters, but their web site is up for sale.
There are better scans, more trustworthy. Edwido is a good one,
http://www.ewido.net/en/
Look on the left for the free scan link.
But, I would still look on the internet for the name of the trojan..see if
there is a link that can provided step-by-steps removal instructions..since
that's what you are looking for.

hi,

the virus is called trojan.agent

well, you got a bugger, that's for sure. Not likely that you can remove it
without help.
I'm providing a link to a forum that will give you some insight..however, do
not follow the instructions to try to do it by yourself.
Each computer is it's own being and what solution works for one will not
necessarily work for the other.
Take a look at the first link to get an idea of what you have. but the
second link is to a forum that I know and trust. You can look in the High
Jack This section, read the instructions and take it from there.
