Editing Many Subject Titles in my Inbox

I'm using MS-Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista.

As you know, Outlook allows you to edit the subject line of an email someone sends you. You can add a reference or tracking number, or whatever you want.

I'm looking for a utility or some guidance on writing a macro that will allow me to change apply a "find & replace" command to the subject line of all emails in a given folder.

Example:

I have over 30,000 system-generated emails that have to do with moderating a discussion forum. Every time a post or thread is deleted, the system generates an email to the user. The system creates a subject that looks like:

Re: MyWebSite.net: AA747 Forum Post Deletion Ref: 7808133

I want to highlight the username in brackets and spaces to look like:

Re: MyWebSite.net: [ AA747 ] Forum Post Deletion Ref: 7808133



I'd appreciate any advice.

I don't think there's a ready-to-use solution for this. For help with VBA
you might re-post to microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba.

Actually, I kept digging around and found the perfect solution last night. I'm not sure if mentioning it here is considered an advertisement (which is not my intention).

It's a "search & replace" tool that's bundled within an add-in set called "MAPIlab Toolbox."

It allowed me to set up the various search & replace parameters, designate which area to search (in my case, the email subject), and identify which folder(s) to apply the changes to.

It took me about 30 minutes to set up all my changes, and then only about 30 seconds to apply them and clean up my subjects!
