Editing home movies on dvd ...

Can anyone explain to me how to re arrange movie sequences.....I have
recently had a set of ancient 8mm home movies transferred to dvd by a
proffesional company but the sequences are joined together in the wrong
order. I have played with movie editing programmes but it seems to me one
can only add special effects and titles? Can I split the sequences and re
arrange them somehow?

yes, splitting and rearranging clips is a normal part of the editing
process....

you can split clips in the collection and drag them to the timeline of a
project in the sequence you want, or split them on the timeline and
drag/drop the parts to other places in the project.
