Editing formatted date in textbox

Access 2002

When using a textbox formatted as short date to edit data stored in a table
as Date/time, I notice that while the format is correct when you just
display the data, as soon as you enter the field, the format changes to show
the full date-time info. This gets confusing for users, who expect to see
and edit only the date. Have I gor something set wrongly, or is this normal
?

This is normal. You can prevent it by setting an Input Mask, such as

00/00/0000

on the form control.

Thanks John.

And I hate input masks, esp for dates, because it constrains the user to
just one format. Its very nice to be able to input dd-mon-yyyy, or dd/mm/yy
and have Access interpret it properly.

Oh, I agree. I never use a mask unless I absolutely must (client
insistance) and just ignore the time portion of dates.
