How can I edit an existing auto text without having to delete and make a new

You can't edit an AutoText entry. Instead, insert the existing entry
into any document and make your changes. Select the revised text and
press Alt+F3. Put in the same name, gallery (AutoText), and category
as the existing entry, and click OK. Answer yes when asked whether to
redefine the existing entry.

Thanks Jay. Should be a feature that Microsoft could look at improving so
that auto texts could be edited?! Thx G.

You can actually use a macro to change the contents of an AutoText without
inserting the AutoText. Such macro can be found here:

Maybe this method will work for you. It depends on the kind of changes you
want to make.
