When typing in an email, whether its a new, forward or reply, and I want to
go back and enter a space or a word within a sentence... I place the cursor
where I want it but it will not let me actually type anything.
Is it a specific setting?
Thanks

Yes, when I place the mouse where I want, and then click once so the cursor
is there blinking, and then type something, nothing happens.
And yes, it does it for all message formats.
Obviously some setting seems to have changed, just can't figure out which
one. I appreciate your help.

it should work out of the box. you're clicking (or using the arrow keys) so
the insert bar has focus in the message body, correct? does it do this for
all message formats?

I'd start with Help, Office Diagnostics.
