Editing After Saving as a WMV file

I need to make some corrections to a video I made using movie maker. The
file has been saved as media player file. I have tried to open it with media
player but it gives an error. It told me to import it into collections,
which I was able to do, but cannot edit. Is there not a way to go back and
forth once the movie is complete from media player to movie maker?
