Edit contacts but old email still appears

Hi, I have a contact in WMail which I have removed the old email address and
inserted the new. There is no trace of his old email in WMail, but when I
start to complete a new mail, the automated part of Mail recognised I want to
send to him, but puts his old email in.

What can I do?

Addresses you've recently sent to are stored in a key in the registry.
The more new addresses you send to, the faster the old ones drop off
the remembered list. The list holds a maximum of 29 addresses.

Unless you are familiar with editing the registry, I would
advise you to ignore the problem for now.
If you are proficient with registry editing, the pertinent key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses

Hi thanks for the reply, but it doesn't really help.

I cannot ignore it, as I want to send the mail to Bloggs@Highstreet but the
old address for Bloggs was Bloggs@Foresteet. When I start to type Bloggs
into the address bar, the whole address for Bloggs comes up, but with the
@Forestreet address. So, how do I remove this. I have removed it from my
address book and added the Highstreet address, but still I get Forestreet as
the address to send to.

Does the Registry have a list of sent to addresses or addresses typed into
an address field?
I thought autocomplete is attempting to fill in the address and that is what
is stored in the Registry.

I understand that when you start to type Bloggs, the incorrect
address Bloggs@Foresteet pops up. Can't you just keep typing
the full new address Bloggs@Highstreet? Alternatively, you
should be able to just click on 'To', which allows you to select the
correct address from the contacts list.

As far as I know, the registry key contains only the addresses you've
recently sent to. It is completely independent of the list of addresses
found in the Contacts database.

I'm also having the same problem. If you have found a solution I would be
greatful if you could share with me.

Why not just click on 'To', which allows you to select the
correct address from the contacts list. The 'bad' address will
eventually drop off the remembered list.

Thanks everyone for their help. I am taking the 'click TO' advice. But it
is annoying as I have a heap of people in the address book.

Had a similar problem. I went to Contacts and found the newly edited contact
in there - right clicked, clicked on "Action" and then "Send Email". Now
whenever I type the contact's name into the "To" line, it gives me the choice
of the new email addy and also the deleted one. Doesn't solve the problem but
least it stops you going crazy...
