My previous Outlook allowed me to edit received emails, including the
subject line, which was very helpful. Now, Vista Windows Mail doesn't show
that option. Is editing possible with Windows Mail?

That's one of the differences between Outlook, a premium, commercial email
client, and Windows mail, a free client. FWIW, Outlook 2003 and later are
fully compatible with Vista, so you can install and continue using it, if
you care to. Outlook versions earlier than 2003 will run, but have some
issues.

If you forward it to yourself, you can edit the forwarded copy. I don't
think
you can edit the copy you originally received, though.

Drag it to the desktop, edit it with Notepad and drag it back.
