Easy Transfer wnts pasword after safing data to new PC - but does notaccept my password

Hi,

I started Easy Transfer on my old XP Home machine and saved the data
(.mig) to an external hard-drive. I then restored the data on my new
Vista Ultimate machine and the restore seemed to work. After restoring
I was asked the restart the Vista machine and after login an Easy
Transfer window came up asking for my password, showing the name of
the original XP account and the local Vista account (actually i am
using the same name and password on both machines).

But: this window insists that I am not inputting the correct password,
although this is definitely the password of the transferred account.
Of course I tested caps-lock, adjusted the language, tested empty
password and so on. Nothing works. Maybe it could be a problem that
the account name + password is the same on both machines? Maybe it is
a problem that there are the chars "," and "." in the password?

However, the window says that the password is required to adjust
access rights to the transferred files. Does someone know how I can do
this manually in case there is no way to get this password problem
fixed?

TIA,
DC

Is it at all possible that it is asking for the Key that is generated
when copying rather than a password, though you say it is associated
with an account ? My memory of this is a bit hazy now as it's a couple
of years since I used it.

Thank you, Tom. I did not use a password for the .mig file. Also, I
think Easy Transfer is explicitly asking for the account password...

In the end i exited the Easy Transfer Program, restarted, and logged
on as Administrator. I then gave full permission to everything on my
hard drives to my user accounts. Everything seems to work OK.
