alright I have been trying to copy some graphics folders to a DVD.... I have
a T5048 emachines with supposively a CD/DVDW.... I click on the folder I want
to copy and it tells me that my E:/not accessible incorrect function.
although I have noticed that when I click on the hardware it says CD-Rom
drive.
I have no problem playing a dvd or even looking at information on other
dvd's it just won't burn any of my files onto a blank dvd.
The information on the model of the driver is TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-H652D
have looked for upgrades and it shows it is upgraded. Have tried
uninstalling it and rebooting it and it doesn't still work.
Not sure but when I look at the system information and click on my cd rom it
says it is a cd rom not a dvd doesn't even have the option of a dvd rom....
excuse my ignorance I just want to put info on a DVD so I can free up some
space on my computer.
Any help would be awesome

http://www.iomagic.com/Firmware/NeroInfotool/neroinfotool.html
Get the drives ID string and firmware version as well as info on the drives
ability to write to DVD media..
Use the above Nero InfoTool to create a report, you can then paste the info
to your post, if you feel the need..
XP can't burn to DVD media without using a third party burning app..
You don't mention what burning software you're using..?

Since XP does not have a build in DVD burner what program are you trying to
use to burn to DVD??
Do you have the right DVD discs...I believe your burner only takes +R and -R

Hi,

Ok, have you tried to update the Power DVD software, from your computers OEM
web site..?
There may even be a firmware update on your computers OEM's site as well..?
What is the OEM Make & model # of your computer..?

http://www.cyberlink.com/
Also, as you can see above there are a few varieties of the Power DVD app,
may help to ID the exact version too..?

The easiest way to check without going into the registry, would be to go to
Device Manager, open DVD/CD-ROM drives, right click one of your optical
drives, select properties from the menu, Details tab, you should see "Device
Instance Id" and a drop down arrow (v), click it, move the mouse pointer
down the list to highlight Device Upper filters and click it, do the same
for the Device Lower filters, Class Upper & Lower filters as well to see and
take note of their contents.. Also, there should be just 4 MS signed drivers
in the Drivers tab, driver details button, driver files details window, may
want to check, your call..

MS signed drivers: cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys, storprop.dll

See any other drivers in the filters..?

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm
This will clear the upper & lower filters too..
May be a bit easier to use, than manually editing the registry..
You will need to reinstall your Power DVD burning app, after you clear the
filters..

Hope it can help..
Post your results..
Cheers

Hiya:),
alright I have went and did the dvd fix and looked in my computer and it
actually said dvd rom:O anyway I also did the update and the fixes.... now I
went into the power2go and it says I have to upgrade to put pictures onto a
dvd... that just doesn't seem right I was able to do it when I first got the
computer haven't tried to burn anything since Christmas.... do you think
installing windows media player 11 did something to it???
Here is my firmware version GA01 and TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652D is the model.
I am not sure what a OEM stands for... lol sorry for the ignorance I guess I
don't know as much about computers as I thought I did.... lol
yes I do have other drivers it says c;\windows\system32\drivers\cdr4_xp.sys
and c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdralw2k.sys they say they are Roxio File
version 7.1.0.188 not digitally signed. I want to thank you for trying to
help. And sorry if you are getting frustrated with me but just think how
frustrating it is on my end... lol I hope I answered all your questions still
for some reason isn't working do I have to do the other upgrade to power2go
5.5??? They sure are getting alot of money out of me just for me wanting to
put pictures on a dvd....Grrrr!

Just a thought here, but you wouldn't happen to be using Norton
anti-virus product and have "Auto-Protect" enabled?

I also want to thank you for all your help.. I ended up having to pay for the
upgrade I guess my computer only came with a 90 day trial. I do appreciate
your time that you spent in trying to figure out what the problem was.
Thank you again!!

Hi Darlene,

I thought it sounded like you might have just had a 3-6 month trialware
version, wasn't sure though, wish I had been able to post then, got called
away and could not post until now, sorry dear...
I also would like to thank you for being so concerned about whether you were
frustrating me, just to let you know I wasn't at all frustrated with you,
just hope my words didn't somehow convey or reflect that it might be a
possibility.. I am very glad to hear all is well now.. Thanks very much for
your courteous reply..

Cheers
