e-mails disappearing into the space time continium....well outlook

I have a user who has lost all e-mails, inbox and subfolders (sent also) but
is still receiving new ones.

One problem is that they have only just sought to notify me, two weeks after
this happened.

I have checked and none of these have gone to the archive as the user has
only been here for 5 weeks. The e-mails disappeared after 3 weeks. They are
on the same PC as when they started and are saying no major events occurred.
We do not use roaming profiles and have to configure each user on a new PC so
she has not moved PC’s without us knowning.

Any ideas??

Is their mail on an Exchange server? Is it possible they were accidentally
set up to deliver to a PST for the first couple of weeks then this got
corrected? I'd start by searching for a PST hidden away somewhere...

that fact that they are gone from subfolders in the inbox really points to an
archive event. Did you search everywhere for a pst file?

All done thanks, apparently this system has somehow created a new PST file,
in a new location and pointed the mail to go to that all of its own accords,
better tell microsoft as it seems AI is taking over.....

Certainly not all of its own accord. I would bet my next paycheck the
person using the PC did it, even if inadvertently.
