E mails disappeared

My boss tells me all of his past emails disappeared from hin Inbox folder.
Any ideas on what might have happened or how to possibly retrieve would be
appreciated. Thanks

the auto-archive message popped up, and he mindlessly clicked yes, and they
were archived. They are usually in c:\docs & settings\<username>\local
settings\application data\ms\outlook, or something like that, maybe just
search the c: drive for *.pst - set it to look in hidden files, do-da,
do-da,...
