It has to connect to the server that handles your email account.

If your ymail.com account is with Yahoo, then you need to have a Yahoo Plus
account in order to access the POP server with Windows Mail.
The free accounts are webmail only.

What is the e-mail server Windows Mail uses?

Windows Mail doesn't have an email server. It is a client, and you tell it
what server you want it to connect to.

So the answer to your question is, the server that you have a mail account
on.

Check with your ISP or mail provider for confguration details, and pay close
attention to them.

Note that some mail HTTP mail servers - like the ordinary Yahoo servers -
won't work with POP/IMAP clients like Windows Mail.
