E-mail Receipt - Random Default to Plain Text

K

Keith Miller

When an e-mail is sent to me in Rich Text or HTML formats
(standard for my contacts), my Outlook sometimes, repeat,
sometimes displays the message as Plain Text.

According to the Help function, responses to e-mail
messages are sent in the format they were received. In
some cases for me, therefore, I am replying in Plain Text
format but my receipient is receiving it in the format it
was originally sent, which was usually in Rich Text.

Under Tools, Options, Mail Format, I have alternated my
outgoing mail format settings from Microsoft Outlook Rich
Text to HTML but the problem persists. Currently my e-
mail receipt setting is set at Microsoft Outlook Rich
Text.

When this happens, is the mail coming from another Exchange domain besides
your own? What types of mail items does this happen to?

And now, for the most important question, which you neglected to add, what
VERSION of Outlook are you using?

Milly,

Thank you for your response to my problem. I hope you can
assist me further.

I am not sure what you mean by my e-mails coming from
another Exchange domain. My e-mails come from a variety
of individuals and most, if not all, are received
correctly. The problem I seem to be having is from one
particular LAN source where many of my friends work.
Messages sent to other e-mail locations from this source
are received as they are composed, i.e. in Rich Text or
HTML. When I receive e-mails from this source, however,
they are received in Plain Text.

The type of e-mails that I am having this problem with
are standard text messages.

I have Outlook 2000.
