I use "Windows Mail" which is included with your Vista. My e-mail account
is with my provider, Comcast. They helped me set up the Windows mail so my
e-mail from their server automatically transfers over to "windows mail"
Windows mail will give you a tone whenever mail comes thru. You can hear the
tone if your within earshot of your speakers. You can set up windows mail to
check for mail every minute or another interval closer to your likeing.
I'm almost certain that you can do the same with your e-mail accounts, Yahoo
or Hotmail. Try asking them or your provider.
This newsgroup is dedicated to the Windows Mail program.
As such, we don't provide support for Yahoo or Hotmail webmail.
Hotmail questions should be asked in the following newsgroup:

To fix that problem, go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account,
Properties, Advanced, enable the option "Leave a copy of messages
on server."
Depending on how much server space your ISP allows, you may want
to select one or both of the two associated 'remove' options.
