Could someone tell me how to check if my hard drive uses a
E-IDE or a S-ATA cable?

Look at the cable.
If it is wider than your thumb - it's IDE.

Most common are ATA/EIDE drives. If you have a SATA drive then you have a SATA cable. SATA cables are round and ATA/EIDE are most commonly flat.

An IDE ribbon is approx 4.5cm wide. A SATA cable is 1cm wide.

Shut system down
open case
look at cable coming from HD
IDE cables are about 2in wide
SATA cables are about 1/2in wide
