Dynamic Web Template updating

I'm using a .dwt (mine is called pageTemplate.dwt) from FP2003 on my site.
I have no problem using the template with the pages in my site until I
decide to make a change to my pageTemplate.dwt file.

I can't figure out how to update all the pages that I've attached to the
dynamic web template in 1 shot. I can only update them individually. This
is a real pain.

I notice in the dwt menu that there is an "update all", but I can't get the
option activated.

Has anyone been able to update all the pages on their site that are attached
to a dwt, all at once?

Hi KM,

If you have not detached your DWT from the pages you should use the "Update
Attached Pages" to make the changes on the DWT show up on all the pages that
are attached..

Just an after thought...

When I make changes to the DWT I receive a prompt if I want all linked pages
to be updated.. I click OK and they are all changed... That is the beauty
of the DWT....
I am using it on a 200+ page website and it has saved a lot of time..

Hmmmm,
I don't get that prompt when I make a change to the master dwt.

When I change the master dwt and save it, nothing happens other than the
save.

Is there a setting I have to set to get this to work the way it is for you?

Yes, that is how I attach the dwt to a page in the first place.

My problem occurs after I have attached the dwt to my pages and then I make
a change to the dwt. I don't get prompted to update all the pages that are
attaced to it. I have to manually open each attached web page and then hit
"update" from the "format, update selected page". I right below this option
is "update all pages" & "update all attached pages", but both of these
options are always greyed out. Can't use them.

So my question is how do I "ungrey" these options?

What type of FP Web do you have open (DBW or server & type/version)

Also check your default TEMP folder for errors in Frontpg.log

I am using a server, not disk based.

ie http://mylap/myWeb

I've tried this on 2 different machines and have the same problem on both.

I've never used DBW's. I've used FP for years, but always used it with a
server.

I tried creating a DBW with DWT and tested to see if the update problem
occured with this type of web.

It didn't. I was able to update all attached pages this way. But not if
using a server. That really blows. Hope they can fix this in the final
version.
