Dynamic IP not working after Windows Update

I patched an XP Pro machine with all the latest security updates and now
dynamic ip is not working correctly; receive junk values for IP, Subnet Mask,
and Default Gateway from IPConfig. IPConfig /release and /renew work but the
settings don't stick between reboots.

Any help is appreciated!
