dynamic disk to basic disk conversion

I have a disk that I want to install as a second drive.

It is a dynamic disk.

It has been recognised by XP but I cannot see it in File Manager!

How do I recover the data before I convert it back to a basic disk?

Open the disk management console

Start - Run - diskmgmt.msc

Right click on the drive. There should be an option to import a foreign
disk.

If I use the disk management tool to convert a foreign to basic disk, will
this wipe out data on it?
I do not wish to wipe out data on disk, is that possible?
