Hi all

A home PC (AMD Athlon XP 1800+, Windows XP, SP2) has started to take 3 or 4
attempts to boot up. It will shut itself down when running through windows
loading. Sometimes it will reboot itself two or three times before getting to
the welcome screen. Sometimes the setup menu comes up and sometimes it will
just shut down when in use. Turning the power switch at the back of case off
then back on occasionally helps. Any thoughts?

Things to try :

Open the case and check all the connections

disconnect and re-seat components

run a HD diagnostic

run a ram test

try a different powersupply

Does it ever say anything abot corrupt files? If so, you may want to try to
repair windows. put in your windows cd and do a repair. May also be your
Hard Drive going bad. If that is the case, you would need to get a new one.
In any case, make a copy of any data on myour pc if you haven't already.
