DX9 Installation issues in XP

Hi all,

I have been ahving a problem updating to DX9. I download
the installer just fine, and it gets to the "finalizing"
part of the install and it pops up a message "DirectX did
not copy a required file" and the installation ends. I
dont have access to Dxdiag either. Please help. Media
Player does the same thing on installation.

This may come as only a small consolation... but DirectX 9.0b caused lockups
in UnrealTounamant2003(v2225), and also caused my system to no longer
recognize my digital camera! I rolled back to 9.0a, and the camera came
back, and no more lockups, in the game.

Maybe 9.0b is just too flakey to bother with?

I realize there are many possibilities... but have you tried 9.0a?
