DWT not updating pages

Guest

I just updated the cell borders, backgrounds and changed the text-only
hyperlinks in one cell to drawn oval buttons with the hyperlinks in the text
inside the ovals.
On update all pages, the background and borders transferred to all pages,
but not the new style links. Any ideas? As always, humble thanks in advance,
Graeme.

Is the style and class for the style in a non-editable region of the DWT
- only non-editable regions are updated

FYI
Automatic update of DWT's only works in Disk Based Webs and under WSS, not under the FP SE
For FP SE server based webs you need to either
- open all affected pages and individually update them, or
- publish to a DBW, update and then publish back to the server

At last someone has confirmed what I was saying in my post above about DWT.

There is not secret about it
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891817

The FP 2002 SE are older than FP2003 and therefore do not support the DWT object model required for automatic update or unopened
pages

PS
IMHO
Even If MS could and would update the FP 2002 SE to support the new DWT object model, I doubt most users would benefit from it
- from what I have seen most hosts that claim to support the FP SE never even bothered to apply the critical Security patches to the
FP SE that are already out there and are just running the initial release of the SE

Stefan:
Users would certainly upgrade their extensions locally to take advantage of
this - I know I would. It wouldn't matter whether the host upgraded or not
except for those people that author on their live sites.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks, but how are prospective users supposed to know this? e.g. the
person who is thinking of buying Frontpage 2003?? Is this made clear in
the pre-purchase documentation. Surely they are not expected to hunt KB
articles at random.

Great! Microsoft did a good job on this one...

Frontpage extensions were always misunderstood, but the earlier
extensions were cross-platform and open-source giving excellent
facilities regardless of the host server of choice. The new system
effectively writes off the future of Frontpage for the mainstream
hosting companies, and further marginalizes the market possibilities.

We would also happily update our other Windows and Linux servers to take
advantage. This new system does not even allow you to run a test
environment with the Sharepoint SDK.

A sad day for Frontpage, and a massive step backwards by Microsoft.
