Mike

I just had my system clear of some virus infections and
since then, DVD playback on all three dvd player software
on my system has been slow and jerky. I assume that
since all software programs are reacting the same, trhat
it must be some common files that are corrupted. Is
there a method or file I can use to re-install my files
that control dvd playback? Thanks.

Mike

I should have added that I have a built-in DVDR drive and
a USB connected DVDRW drive both with the same symptoms.
I can run an AVI file from a cd and it works fine. This
appears to be a DVD problem only (all sre store bought
pre-recorded DVDs).

problem. Thanks

Try updating the graphocs card drivers from the manufacturers site and also
may be adjusting the acceleration settings.

I know this is 2 years later, since your post. But I recently had the
same experience with my DVD drive.

I was watching Jackass Vol 2, and the computer ran into difficulties
because there was a sratch on the DVD. I gave up and put on another
DVD, Home Improvement.

It started playing, but wouldn't play properly. I tried another DVD,
Futurama. Same thing happened. Now I paniced.

I searched frantically for the solution on the Internet. Found posts
like yours, and realized I wasn't alone on this one.

Finally I found the explanation to my problem, and how to fix it.

I was so happy when things were restored to normal, I danced around the
room with joy.

Erm, delete that last line from your memory.
