I have been using DVD Shrink for DVD back-ups with some success.

Is there anything similar that is effective and user friendly?

No, not really :-)


A good compliment to DVD Shrink is
DVDFab Decrypter
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
It copies entire DVD movie to hard disk, and removes
all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and
Sony ARccOS) while copying.


And you have a prog called
MenuShrink
http://jean.laroche.free.fr/MenuShrink/
is a small app that lets you compress DVD motion menus
by turning them into still menus with or without audio.



Some people like this one, and some hate it :-)

Except it - surprise - decrypts. DVD Shrink does that *and* shrinks...a
useful function since movies often are larger than the capacity of a DVD
disc. And if you think Shrink is not user friendly you'd absolutely
hate Decrypt. However, it isn't hard to get...

Only trouble is that DVD Shrink will not burn 'on-the-fly' unless you have
Nero installed (I have Roxio:-(( ).

Is their any suitable software for burning Video_TS and Audio_TS files to
disk simply?

It's easy with Roxio. Drag the two folders onto the project, and use a
UDF format under File->Project Properties.

Last version available (3.2.0.15) allows you to create iso and burn it
automatically with DVD Decrypter (if you have installated, but it's
freeware so why not?).
Look at "Backup DVD" -> Target Device -> Select backup target -> ISO
Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter.
