DVD-RW on SATA

Is it possible to use a Pata - sata convertor on a dvd-rw or is it just
meant for hdd's?

This is what I read at a website right before I bought mine.

Both the SATA controller has to support ATAPI devices and the
converter for it to work.

My SYB adaptor with Silicon image chip states it does support it .
Havent checked whether my controller on my ASUS deluxe supports it.
Mainly because why put it on there? Usually boards that have SATA also
have IDE controllers. So Id put it on there and put the HDs on the
SATA with the adaptor.

All the regular IDE controllers Ive had that were addons - highpoints,
promise etc even if theyve listed ATAPI support didnt seem to work
100% with my burners so I never put them on those controllers anymore
just the main IDE controllers and Id be a bit leery about putting them
on the SATA controller. But you can try for yourself if you have
everything and see if it works.
