DVD-RW Drive Problems

E

Ed

I have a Pioneer DVR-106D external DVD-RW drive. It has
worked well for months but recently XP wasn't recognizing
it. I uninstalled all my optical drives and discounted
them along with all software that uses them. Restarted
and reinstalled. XP now recognizes my DVD-RW drive as a
DVD-RW again until I insert a blank DVD in the
drive. "My Computer" then switches the drive to a CD-ROM
Drive with a DVD disk icon on the drive. Fully updated
Easy CD Creator 5.5 Platinum now tells me there is no
supported drive, which it use to not do, and won't burn a
disk. Is this because the drive switches to CD-ROM
in "My Computer"? What can I do?

Download a Demo of Nero Burning ROM and see if it recognizes it. Nero's InCD
will usually write to DVD's as well.
