dvd-rom/writers won't read cd's that I put in after windows has been booted

Windows doesn't read any new cds that I put in after
windows has been loaded up. If i put in the cd's first then
restart windows I can read from the cd's fine.

i have the same problem as you. did you install any sis
drivers for your ide's, because i did and that may be my
problem and yours. also does your drive read the cd when
you start up the system with the cd inserted? my computer
still reads the disk when i start up with it.
