my dvd rom drive is set to region 1 and i can't change it any more, meaning
it is useless for most dvd's I want to play. (region 2). Is there any way I
can change it again? I have noticed that there are some extra jumpers on the
back. Can I use these to reset it???

Thanks in Advance,

Andy

Do a Google search for "free DVD region changer". There are several
programs that will restore your DVD drive and reset the region
selection back to when the drive was new. If your firmare supports
it, there are even utilities that can remove the region restriction
all together.

No, you have to live with it, or learn how to hack it, or find a
regionless player app.

Or install a second internal or external DVD drive and keep it set on region
2.

To the OP: look for the hardware reset option. With ASUS DVD, I can do this
hardware reset by pressing the two buttons on the DVD panel while cold
booting the PC until the DVD Led blinks. The number of region change will
then be set back to zero. I don't know about non-Asus brand. It's a good
bet that they may have similar function.
